Your hosts, Darren and Luanne We have been hosting catered chalets for several years and have met some wonderful guests. Our philosophy is to ensure our guests feel comfortable and "at home" in our chalet but at the same time give that extra service to make the holiday special. During school holidays we tend to host families and serve and early tea for the younger children. At other times our clients are varied; couples, friends, work groups and singles. We find that the long, leisurely meal, together with the log fire and a glass of wine or more that people enjoy the ambience of the chalet. Catered chalet La Moussière La Moussière offers clients an informal relaxed stay with those luxury touches. Around 200 years old, it is a typical Savoyard building with 5 en-suite bedrooms plus 2 others sharing a bathroom. The unusually large lounge/dining area with a huge open log fire and adjacent "honesty" bar offers ample seating and there is an outdoor hot tub and an indoor sauna to enhance your après-ski relaxation. The village centre with it's choice of bars, restaurants and shops is 5 to 10 minutes walk. Our 7 bedrooms are quite versatile and the configurations can be altered to suit large groups and thus reduce the cost per head. More information is here Location Chalet la Moussière is a 200 year old Savoyard chalet set in the old village square of the popular village of St Jean d'Aulps, a 10 minute minibus ride to the main Portes du Soleil ski area and only a few minutes from the resort of La Grande Terche. The resort town of Morzine is less than 10 minutes drive and has a host of shops restaurants and bars plus an indoor swimming pool. Also popular is to watch the "Penguins", Morzine top flight ice hockey team. Whilst Morzine is more bustling, our village is still very popular with visitors and locals alike. It has excellent and varied restaurants, very popular bars plus shops, banks and more. It more of a true village than a resort. Just a 15 minute drive away is Les Gets, another popular resort link within the linked Portes du Soleil. Getting to the lifts Experienced skiers will wish to ski the massive Portes du Soileil ski domain. We recommend the out of town lift at Ardent. It is around 10 minutes drive and there is a relatively uncrowded telecabine which whisks you up the mountain to Lindarets. Here you will find ski schools, nursery slopes, assorted restaurants and express chair lifts to Avoriaz, Châtel/Linga and Switzerland. It's a fast route to some of the very best skiing, and you can ski back to Ardent at the end of the day on a blue run. For guests taking our airport transfer service we provide free shuttles to this, or other lifts if you prefer. Guests driving will appreciate the large free car park at Ardent.
Our catered ski chalet is available for exclusive use or a room by the room basis. Generous child discounts are available to all children sharing a family room with 2 adults.
* The chef has a night off each week when we ask you to try one of our local restaurants.
